Community & Family Services Department

Updated 10/9/2026

Overview

Community & Family Services brings together programs that support children, youth, adults, families, education, and community well-being—all in one place. Our goal is to make it easier for Tribal members to access services, find resources, and receive coordinated support throughout every stage of life.

Our team works closely with Youth Services, Behavioral Health, Wellness, and other community and Tribal programs to ensure Tribal members are connected to the services and opportunities that best meet their needs.

If you've previously worked with Family Resources, Higher Education, or t̓ix̌dxʷ bədbədaʔ (Family Services/child welfare), you'll now connect with the Community & Family Services Department for assistance. We look forward to continuing to serve our community through this new, collaborative approach.

Family Resources

Family is at the heart of who we are. The sacrifices of our ancestors were made to ensure that future generations would be cared for, supported, and able to thrive. Today, the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians offers a wide range of services through the Community & Family Services Department to support the well-being of every family. Our goal is to strengthen connections, provide meaningful assistance, and help our community continue to grow in meaningful ways.

Higher Educuation

Whether you're a Tribal Member student, parent, or adult looking to take the next step, we're here to help you navigate opportunities, overcome barriers, and connect you with the resources and support you need to succeed.

We support Tribal Members of all ages with:

  • K–12 educational advocacy, including support with IEPs and 504 Plans, school navigation, credit retrieval, alternative education options, online programs, and re-engagement pathways.
  • College planning, including applications, financial aid, scholarships, and navigating postsecondary options.
  • Career exploration, résumé development, job training, apprenticeships, and workforce readiness.
  • Personalized education and career planning to help you identify and achieve your goals.

Indian Child Welfare (t̓ix̌dxʷ bədbədaʔ)

Our children are our most precious resource, and their safety, security, and well-being are our highest priorities. The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) strengthens the Stillaguamish Tribe’s voice in child custody proceedings involving our children, helping ensure their best interests are protected.

Our goal is to keep Stillaguamish children connected to their families, culture, and community by prioritizing placement within Stillaguamish homes whenever possible. Through this work, we strive to preserve our heritage and support the future of our Tribe.

DSHS End Harm Hotline
