Position Title: Communications Specialist

Department: Administration

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Grade: DOE

Reports to: Executive Director/COO


Position Summary

The Communications Specialist supports and promotes the Tribes goals including message development and social media content creation. Creates and delivers newsletters, brochures and other publications including maintaining the Tribes Facebook page and other Social Media Feeds.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Create literature and other forms of communication including newsletters for both Tribal members and employees.
• Maintain the Tribes Facebook page and other Social Media Feeds with relevant content.
• Provide photos and copy to the Outdoor Media team for digital billboards spots highlighting the Tribe.
• Ensure digital marketing content aligns with the Tribes identity and message.
• Maintain media relations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Excellent and tactful communication skills; both verbal and written.
• Excellent critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems quickly and effectively.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Proficient command of the English language.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.

Work Environment

The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions. • Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
• Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field preferred.
• Current Washington State driver’s license.
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
