Position Title: Seasonal Education Support Associate

Department: Education


FLSA Status:Non-Exempt




Reports to:Education Director

 Position Summary

On-call support to assist with the day-to-day activities of the Summer and Spring Break Youth Camp Programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
·Monitor and ensure the safety and well being of all children attending the Summer & Spring Break Youth Camp as well as all summer youth workers
·Assemble, organize and prepare any necessary supplies, paperwork or sporting equipment for activities, lesson plans, or projects
·Assist with all student activities, such as but not limited to: field trips, outdoor events, educational lessons, arts/crafts, and The Festival of the River
·Maintains a safe, clean and orderly workspace adhering to food safety and health standards
·Assists in the preparation of snacks and lunches for children attending the Education programs
·Works efficiently and effectively to complete all tasks

·Prioritizes and organized tasks for speed and quality assurance

 Required Knowledge, Skills and

·Experience working in a Tribal Culture setting is preferred.
·Experience working with Tribal children is preferred.
·Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
·Must maintain confidentiality at all times.
·Must implement the goals and objectives set out by the Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians community.
·Must interact with culturally diverse children, adults, and community in a competent and respectful manner.
·Ability to work with all age levels, learning abilities, and styles.
·Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills required.
·Ability to work under pressure and take initiative in a fast paced environment.
·Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and follow directions.
·Fundamental understanding of sanitation and cleanliness required.
·Must be able to multitask, sometimes with conflicting priorities.

·Ability to perform work independently and in small groups in accordance with general policies and procedures.


Work Environment

The worker is frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes, and is subject to outside environmental conditions and to wet and/or humid conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job
·Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects.
·Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
·Occasionally lift over 50 lbs in conjunction with others.
·Must be able to assist in the moving/carrying of large tribal canoes over strenuous terrain such as beaches, rock shores, down steep slopes, and through muddy tidal flats.
·Constantly requires the ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication.
·Constantly requires working with fingers and the whole hand or arm.
·Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
·Often requires walking or moving about to accomplish tasks.
·Occasionally requires standing and/or sitting for sustained periods of time.
·Occasionally requires ascending or descending stairs or ramps using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
·Occasionally requires raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally.
·Occasionally requires stooping which entails the use of the lower extremities and back muscles.  Infrequently requires crouching.

·Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


Position Qualifications
·Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
·Must be at least 18 years of age.
·Must possess a current Food Handler’s Permit.  Will obtain on-the-job.
·Must be punctual, dependable, and flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
·Must adhere to the Stillaguamish policies and procedures set out by the Tribe.
·Must be available to work multiple shifts (day, evenings)
·Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug test.
·This position may require the employee to work aboard boats and traditional style tribal canoes.
